Ranchi, July 7 (IANS) Six Maoists and nine arms suppliers have been arrested in Jharkhand, police said Wednesday.
The Maoists of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) were arrested Wednesday from the jungle area of Nawadih village in Palamau district, around 170 km from here.
Five pistols and 40 live cartridges were seized from them, a police officer said.
The arms suppliers were arrested from Jamshedpur Tuesday. ‘They used to supply arms to Maoists,’ Jamshedpur Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Kumar told reporters.
A total of 13 pistols, one revolver, 443 live cartridges, Rs.2.30 lakh in cash, three bikes and nine mobiles were seized from the suppliers. The live cartridges include bullets of AK 47 and INSAS rifles.
According to police, the suppliers used to bring arms from Bihar’s Munger and Rohtas districts to supply them to the rebels in Jharkhand.
