Islamabad, July 14 (IANS) Violence in Jammu and Kashmir that has left 15 people dead is ‘an internal matter of India’, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said here Wednesday.

The minister was asked to comment on his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s reported comment to take up the issue of alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir during talks with Krishna Thursday.

‘India has always taken a consistent position. Whatever is happening in Kashmir is an internal matter of India,’ he said.

Fifteen people, mainly young men, have been killed in firing by security forces during street protests in the Kashmir Valley since June 11.
