Islamabad, July 15 (IANS) Pakistan Thursday termed as ‘uncalled for’ Indian Home Secretary G.K. Pillai holding the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy agency as being responsible for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
‘We both agreed that it was uncalled for,’ Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said at a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna after their wide-ranging discussions here.
The response came on a question from an Indian journalist on the steps Pakistan was taking to prevent Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder, who New Delhi says masterminded the Mumbai attack, from making repeated hate speeches against India that were vitiating the
atmosphere.
‘I do agree that both sides should create an enabling environment and not let the climate of engagement be vitiated,’ Qureshi said.
Pillai, in remarks published Wednesday was quoted as saying the ISI had controlled and coordinated the Nov 26-29, 2008 Mumbai attack that left 166 people, including 26 foreigners, dead.
