Lucknow, July 20 (IANS) Six people drowned while a few went missing after a boat capsized Tuesday in the fast flowing waters of the Ramganga River in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, police said.
‘About 25 people were on the boat ferrying them across the river in the morning when it capsized midstream in the Nagphani area,’ a police official said.
While three people swam to safety, 10 were pulled out by boatmen.
Six bodies were recovered downstream by police divers. Search was on for another half a dozen still missing, police said.
Moradabad is about 350 km from here.
