Abu Dhabi, July 26 (IANS/WAM) Road fatalities in the UAE dropped by 21.01 percent in the first half of 2010 with 391 deaths registered, compared with 495 deaths in the corresponding period last year.

According to a report released by the interior ministry’s Traffic Coordination Department (TCD) Monday, the number of traffic accidents dropped by 25.5 percent to 3,773 during the period. The figure was 5,034 in 2009.

TCD director Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi said traffic accidents, including those resulting in deaths were ‘a natural outcome of the increasing traffic’. He said car crashes topped 2,544 in the first half of 2010.
