New Delhi, July 29 (IANS) Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific’s premier lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living will be known as TLC from Sep 1.

‘TLC, a premier lifestyle channel will offer a diverse range of content. It will feature lifestyle and factual entertainment focused on travel, cuisine, adventure, environment, home improvement and gripping human interest stories,’ said Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, India, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

‘To bring out the ordinary in extraordinary way is what our channel believes in and we have tried to bring in all the ordinary concepts like beauty and relationships in our new format. We have tried to make it more approachable by raising common issues,’ he added.

The new programming line-up on TLC includes 15 new shows, six new hosts, 11 new seasons and genres such as adventure, family and makeovers.

Indian model-turned actress Sushma Reddy will also be seen as a host on the channel.

Broadcast in English with a much hipper, trendier and cooler look, TLC is expected to reach 50 million subscribers by 2010-end across the Indian subcontinent. Globally, it will be available in over 75 countries by early 2011.

Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific’s current portfolio includes six channels in India – Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery HD World, Discovery Turbo and TLC.
