Bangalore, Aug 4 (IANS) Consumer electronics behemoth Samsung Wednesday unveiled its high definition (HD) three dimension (3D) light-emitting diode (LED) television sets with flat panel to offer home entertainment for discerning viewers.
‘We have introduced the flat panel high definition 3D TV sets to consolidate our leadership in the top end Indian market by offering theatre entertainment in home environs for an entire family,’ Samsung India Deputy Managing Director Ravinder Zutshi told reporters at a preview of the products here.
As the world’s slimmest HD 3D LED TV, with a wafer-thin design and a touch screen remote control, the sets enable viewers to watch television or Blu-ray DVD titles simultaneously.
‘With television broadcaster Sun, channels such as National Geographic and ESPN offering programmes in 3D, viewing them on HD LED sets will be an altogether different experience,’ Zutshi said.
The Indian subsidiary is manufacturing the 3D TVs at its Noida facility in Uttar Pradesh, which has a capacity to roll out two million units per annum.
The sets in 9000 series also automatically convert 2D content into 3D, enabling viewers to watch a soccer game live and feel like being a part of the action.
‘With built-in Ethernet connection and wireless-ready facility, our 3D TV line-up is ready to meet the growing consumer demand for content without borders,’ Zutshi said.
Its AllShare feature allows users to wirelessly connect their TV with compatible mobile devices to share movies, photos and music through a single device.
‘We offer a complete solution to enable consumers bring the 3D theatre experience home with 3D active glasses,’ Zutshi noted.
The company is targeting to sell about 30,000 HD 3D TVs and about 200,000 LED TVs this year.
The size of the flat panel segment is estimated to be about 3 million in the 13-million total television sets market in India.
The Samsung HD TV sets are marketed in 46 inch and 55 inch screen size with BD (Blu-ray Disc) player and three 3D glasses at Rs.400,000 and Rs.430,000 respectively.
The company is also offering 10 models in LED, LCD and Plasma platforms in 40-63 inch screen size and priced between Rs.129,000 and Rs.186,000, with plasma version at Rs.300,000.
The LED TV sets in 22-55 inch screen size are priced between Rs.25,000 and Rs.200,000.
