Ahmedabad, Aug 6 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court Friday granted two-day custody of former minister of state Amit Shah to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake shootout case.
Justice Akil Quereshi granted the custody after the CBI Thursday challenged in the high court the denial of remand of Shah, who has been arrested in the case.
Veteran lawyer K.T.S. Tulsi will represent the CBI in the high court.
The Special CBI court had Wednesday rejected the CBI plea to take Shah, the former minister of state for home, on remand for further questioning in connection with the case.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has been accused of killing Sohrabuddin in a staged shootout Nov 26, 2005 near Ahmedabad on grounds that he was a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. His wife Kauser-Bi has also been missing since then.
A 3,000 page chargesheet has been filed against Shah.
