Lucknow, May 4 (Inditop) The driver of a bus carrying over 50 security personnel was killed and all the passengers injured, four of them critically, in an accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district Monday morning, police said.

The security personnel were going from Lucknow to Mainpuri district on poll duty when a speeding truck collided head on with the bus around 6 a.m. in the Chibra Mau area of Kannauj district.

“While the driver died on the spot, 51 home guards were injured. Four were critical and were instantly referred to Lucknow,” a police officer at the Chibra Mau police station told IANS over phone.

The other personnel were undergoing treatment in the district hospital and were said to be out of danger.

The truck driver fled from the spot, while the identity of the bus driver was yet to be ascertained as it was a private bus hired for election duty, he added.
