Shanghai, Aug 17 (IANS) Having an extra-marital affair or ‘wrecking’ other people’s marriages can now lead to expulsion from universities in China.

‘Those who maintain ‘special relationships’ with married people will be kicked out from the campus,’ Guangzhou-based South China Normal University said in a statement.

The Chongqing Normal University issued a similar warning, but in a more explicit manner. ‘Students who become prostitutes, mistresses, or toy boys will be expelled from school immediately.’

The warnings, however, sparked off heated discussions among students – some criticising its impracticality and others saying they can understand those who choose the wrong course in love, Shanghai Daily reported Tuesday.

‘They have the right to sleep with whoever they like and that is none of the university’s business,’ a student said.

Another said most of her classmates do not despise those who hop into rich men’s beds, while a few others said the regulation was necessary in guiding the students to a moral way of life.
