Karachi, Aug 20 (IANS) Thirteen people were killed Thursday when violence erupted in this Pakistani city after a leader of Awami National Party was shot dead, a media report said.
Forty people were injured in clashes after Ubaid-ullah Yousuf Zai, a provincial leader of the party, was killed, Geo TV reported.
Incidents of firing and burning of vehicles were reported from across the city. Many commercial centres, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Banaras and Orangi Town were shut down.
