London, Aug 24 (IANS) British Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife Samantha has given birth to a baby girl, who is the couple’s fourth child.

Downing Street said both the baby, born weighing 2.7 kg, and the prime minister’s wife were ‘doing very well’, the Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

‘The prime minister and Mrs Cameron would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the hospital for their help and kindness,’ a spokesman said.

The Camerons already have a daughter, Nancy, six, and a four-year-old son, Arthur. Their first child, Ivan, who had cerebral palsy, died in February last year, aged six.

In May 2000, Leo Blair became the first child to be born to a serving prime minister in Britain, the report said.
