London, Aug 29 (IANS) Days after their divorce was finalised, golfer Tiger Woods’ former wife Elin Nordegren now wants to become a child psychologist and help children undergoing metal trauma due to their separated parents.
The couple got divorced Monday and Elin received a settlement of 64 million pounds. Their marriage hit the rocks last year when Woods, who previously had enjoyed a squeaky-clean image, crashed his car outside their house, setting off a cascade of revelations about his repeated infidelities.
According to the Daily Express, Elin was so upset by the scandal’s effect on their two children that she is determined to qualify as a child psychologist, friends reveal.
The former nanny enrolled for a three-year degree course at Rollins College near Orlando five months ago, at a time when more women were -coming forward to share their extramarital affairs with Woods.
‘Elin wants to help children. She is the child of divorced parents and, -having seen her own marriage end through no fault of her own, she is very aware of what that can do to kids.
‘Elin is very focused on getting her degree. It has given her something to strive for while her marriage ended. She is very compassionate and would make a great psychologist. She does not just want to be known as the ex-Mrs Woods.’
Once she graduates Elin will have to take professional exams before being able to practice in Florida.
The 30-year-old, married to the ace golfer for almost six years, is looking for a home in the exclusive east coast Florida town of Jupiter. Her philandering ex-husband has been building a 35-million-pound oceanfront mansion nearby.
She plans to live close to her ex-husband so they can share custody of their daughter, Sam, three, and 18-month-old son, Charlie.
Last week, Elin broke her silence over her 34-year-old husband’s multiple affairs, admitting the -experience was ‘beyond betrayal’. She described the ordeal of learning about his affairs with waitresses, porn stars and a neighbour’s daughter as ‘hell’.
