New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS) The Indian cricket board’s disciplinary committee looking into the suspension of Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi Sunday fixed two sets of dates for the hearings in September.
In a statement, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty said the dates for recording of evidence and cross examination were fixed Sep 13-15 or Sep 26-28.
‘In case the evidence on behalf of BCCI gets completed on these dates an assessment would be made by 15th of September with regard to witness and advance statements of Modi’s witnesses,’ Shetty said.
He said that the board would submit a list of witnesses along with their statements on or before Sep 7 with an advance copy to Modi’s counsels.
‘It will be the responsibility of the BCCI to make these witnesses available for cross-examination by the counsel of Modi. The next dates for hearing are fixed for these purposes. Upon completion of the BCCI’s evidence, counsel for Modi would thereafter submit a list of witnesses which they want to produce. A week would be given for filing of witness statements and making them available for cross-examination,’ Shetty said.
Counsel for BCCI and Modi were directed to file a statement indicating the documents of the other side which they dispute and this will be completed by Sep 7.
Counsel for Modi indicated that participation in this enquiry is without prejudice of the right to challenge the orders that the committee passed Aug 11.
