New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) Automobile manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Saturday reported a growth of 26 percent in its sales in August which stood at 6,361 units as against 5,045 units during the like period last year.

According to the company, sales growth was achieved due to a good response which was received for its new car variant Corolla Diesel and sports utility vehicle (SUV) Fortuner.

‘Corolla Diesel that was launched in the end of July has lived up to our expectations with around 2,000 bookings since its launch,’ said Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director-marketing, TKM.

The company recently launched a new variant of its Fortuner on the first anniversary of Indian debut.

‘August also marked the first anniversary of the Fortuner in India, as well as reaching the milestone of 10,000 units sold which we celebrated by introducing the Fortuner anniversary edition,’ Singh added.

The company also reported a 62 percent growth in sales for the period January to August over the like period last year.
