London, Sep 9 (IANS) Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, who is on a visit to flood-hit areas in Pakistan as UN Goodwill Ambassador, has condemned the plans of an American church to burn copies of the Quran on the ninth anniversary of the Sep 11 terrorist attacks.
‘I have hardly the words that somebody would do that to somebody’s religious book,’ contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.
Jolie also spoke about her sympathy for the people of Pakistan where 1,500 people have been killed and 20 million have been affected by the floods.
‘I was shocked, especially by how high the flood waters went. In some of the people’s houses, it was 9 feet high,’ she said.
‘There’s lots of speculation about why this one has not gotten the attention it deserves. Even all of the wonderful coverage is not getting the response that usually it’s able to get,’ she said.
Christian pastor Terry Jones has caused a furore in Islamic countries by announcing plans to set fire to the Quran at his church, Dove World Outreach Center in Florida.
