London, Sep 19 (IANS) Left-handed people seem to be angrier than their right-handed peers, a recent study has found.

They seem to be at a disadvantage — from daily items designed for their right-handed cousins to folklore suggesting they are agents of the devil.

Perhaps it is the annoyance of dealing with such irritants that makes them angry.

Current world leaders who are left-handed include Barack Obama and David Cameron. Another is tennis legend John McEnroe, who is as notorious for his tantrums as his successes.

Researchers found that among the left-handers, the two brain hemispheres chat more with each other and hence interact more with the parts that produce negative emotions, according to the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease.

Everything from can-openers to garden tools to knives and scissors seem to be designed without taking their problems into consideration, reports the Daily Mail.

Generations of left-handed schoolkids were forced to write with their right hand, enduring centuries of stigma that describes the left-handed being evil. They are also seen as clumsy and awkward.

The study, led by Ruth Propper, psychology professor at Merrimack College in Massachusetts, found that the halves of the brain in those who are left-handed are more interlinked. This makes them more moody.

Previous studies had shown that the left-handed are more prone to negative emotions. Many of the world’s leaders and stars are left-handed, with some known for being hot-tempered.
