Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Sep 22 (IANS) India’s Sania Mirza and Italy’s Maria Elena Camerin entered the doubles quarterfinals of Tashkent Open tennis here Wednesday.
Sania and Elena defeated the Ukrainian sisters Lyudmyla and Nadiya Kichenok 6-2, 6-3 in one hour, in the presence of Indian Embassy personnel at the Olympic Tennis Centre.
The Indo-Italian pair will now take on Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania and Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia, who upset third-seeded Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Belarusian Darya Kustova 7-5, 7-6(13).
