Mumbai, Sep 27 (IANS) Highlighting the opportunities that India’s emerging metropolitan sectors offer, US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez Monday began a three-day trade policy trip to India ahead of President Barack Obama.
‘The overall US-India bilateral relationship is the best it has ever been. President Obama’s upcoming visit demonstrates the importance US assigns to the bilateral relationship with India, and underscores the strategic partnership that has developed in recent years between our two nations,’ Sanchez said.
Sanchez mentioned that the US exports to India doubled between 2005 and 2009 and have increased 20 percent in the first seven months of 2010.
‘Growth will accelerate in emerging metropolitan sectors like Pune and Nagpur and new markets will form for the US and Indian businesses,’ Sanchez said.
Sanchez also participated in a US-India Commercial Dialogue round table, organised by the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the US-India Business Council (USIBC).
