New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Built on 65 acres for the Commonwealth Games, the Millennium Park Bus Depot with a parking capacity for over 1,000 low-floor buses is one of the largest in the country.

Built along the western banks of the Yamuna, the project was completed at a cost of Rs.74 crore.

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi completed it within a year.

‘At present, nearly 600 low-floor AC buses have been parked in the depot. They will carry reporters, athletes and technical staff during the Games,’ M.S. Shehrawat of the Delhi Transport Corp (DTC) told IANS.

The depot boasts of five workshop-cum-bus scanning centres, eight washing pits, seven dormitories, night stay for 500 people, four underground tanks to wash buses, two CNG filling stations and an 11 KV electric sub-station.
