New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS) It will be a bright and clear sky with no chance of rain when the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games takes place in the capital Sunday, the Met Office predicted Saturday.
“There is no chance of rainfall tomorrow (Sunday) and the skies will remain clear. It will be a bright and sunny day,” said an official of the India Meterological department (IMD).
The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius while the humidity levels would be between a high of 90 and a low of 40 percent.
Delhi witnessed one of the wettest monsoons this year with the total recorded rainfall crossing 1,031.5 mm, around 56 percent above the seasonal average.
Around 7,000 men, women and children will be performing in the opening ceremony, divided into six segments, at the revamped Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Some 7,000 athletes and officials from 71 countries and territories are expected for the Games, India’s biggest sporting event since the 1982 Asian Games.
