New Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora has announced cash incentives of Rs.5 lakh to Rs.10 lakh for Indian medal winners at the Commonwealth Games.

The minister announced the incentives on behalf of the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), which decided it at a meeting chaired by him in his capacity as the Board’s patron, said an oil ministry release.

Deora said a gold medal winner would be given a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh, while silver medal winner would get Rs.7.5 lakh and a Bronze medallist Rs.5 lakh.

PSPB is an organisation of oil PSUs for promotion and development of sports in the country.

He pointed out that nearly 50 players affiliated to the PSPB are representing India at the Games.

PSPB President R. S. Sharma said the board is setting up an Archery Academy in Bolpur, West Bengal.
