Islamabad, Oct 5 (IANS) Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf should not only be tried for violating the constitution, but also for getting Baloch leader Akbar Bugti killed and for staging the Lal Masjid massacre, Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly has demanded.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Javed Abbasi accused Musharraf of conspiring against democracy in Pakistan while being based in a foreign country.

He said Musharraf has trampled the constitution twice, got Baloch leader Akbar Bugti killed and staged the Lal Masjid massacre.

Bugti was killed by the security forces Aug 26, 2006, while Islamabad’s Lal Masjid was stormed by commandos in July 2007 after a prolonged stand-off.

The News International quoted him as saying that Interpol must bring Musharraf to Pakistan and he must be tried for treason so that no one violates the constitution in future.

Bashir Ahmed Bilour, a minister, appreciated the army for its services in the war against terror and the devastating floods.

‘If Musharraf thinks he can stage a comeback and rule the country again, it’s his wishful thinking,’ he said, adding that the army had a role in the constitution and that was to defend the country’s frontiers.

Musharraf resigned in 2008, as Pakistan’s ruling coalition began taking steps to impeach him. He then moved to Britain.
