Chennai, Oct 6 (IANS) City-based media mogul Kalanithi Maran Wednesday has acquired another 5.03 percent stake in SpiceJet, taking his direct holding in the low-cost airline to 17.72 percent.
In a regulatory filing, SpiceJet had informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that in an offmarket deal Tuesday Maran had bought 19,370,400 shares at Rs.47.25 per share.
The acquisition is pursuant to a share purchase agreement dated June 12, 2010 executed amongst Maran, KAL Airways Pvt Ltd, SpiceJet, WLR Recovery III (India) Ltd, WLR Recovery IV/ESC (India) Ltd, India Asset Recovery Fund Ltd, WLR/GS (India) Ltd.
In June this year Maran and his KAL Airways issued an open offer for the acquisition of shares of SpiceJet from public shareholders with WLR Recovery III (India) Ltd, WLR Recovery IV/ESC (India) Ltd, India Asset Recovery Fund Ltd, WLR/GS
(India) Ltd as persons acting in concert.
