Mumbai, Oct 7 (IANS) Simple cuts, elegant drapes, smart jackets and minimilistic embroidery – Monisha Jaising wowed the audience by presenting a true high-end collection at the HDIL India Couture Week here.
At a couture show, designers usually focus on a bridal collection with a heavy dose of embellishments, but for Jaising, minimalist was the word and in-house texturing was the USP of her collection.
Commenting on her ensemble, she said: ‘I don’t do bridal clothes. I feel mine was a couture collection, wasn’t it?’
‘Couture means handcrafted and all my garments that I showed on the ramp are specially designed. As I specialise in evening wear, I tried different ways of making a garment look sexy and sensual,’ she added.
Her collection offered long evening gowns, jackets teamed with micro shorts as well as skirts, ruffled skirts and dresses in hues of black, white, red, and baby pink.
Jaising has experimented a lot with textures as well and it reflected in the line.
Even embroidery was not over-the-top and mostly it was around the neckline or on the side of the dresses – giving the garments a very sexy and sensual look.
All in all, Jaising made a mark on the ramp with her interesting creations and the audience rightly applauded her skills.
