New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS) India’s Ashish Kumar, who created history by winning India’s first ever medal in gymnastics, said he could have won a gold if he had more time for practice.

Ashish won a bronze in floor exercises Saturday and followed it up with a silver in the men’s vault.

‘If there was more time for practice, then maybe we would have won a gold,’ Kumar said.

J.S.Kandhari, president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, too, lashed out, saying the equipment reached late and that hampered practice of gymnasts.

‘There was not enough time for practice. The equipment were supposed to come by March, but they came just days before the Games.’

‘Also, there was not enough international exposure for our gymnasts. Where we should be participating in six or seven events, we are participating in just one,’ Kumar said.

He, however, added that he was confident since he had just returned from a gymnastic world championship recently and was expecting a gold.
