New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) The V.K. Shunglu Committee, probing alleged financial irregularities in the just-concluded Commonwealth Games, is expected to move into its office in Vigyan Bhawan complex here Wednesday, an official said.
‘All the preliminary arrangements have been made. Security personnel inspected the office on Sunday. Shunglu himself reviewed his office arrangements Tuesday,’ the official told IANS.
‘We are giving final touches to the office. We expect it to be ready by Wednesday,’ he added.
After the installation of phones in his office by Wednesday, former comptroller and auditor general (CAG) Shunglu will be able to operate out of his office, the official said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appointed the Shunglu Committee Oct 15, a day after the Commonwealth Games concluded, to probe the alleged financial irregularities and the delays in the works related to the Games.
The government has asked the committee to submit its final report within three months.
The second member of this committee, Shantanu Consul, secretary, department of personnel and training, is expected to join the committee next week after his retirement Oct 31.
The panel has been mandated to fix responsibility of the main actors, political as well as those holding positions in the CWG Organising Committee, for alleged corruption surrounding the sporting event.
The Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games faced allegations of corruption from opposition parties.
