Chennai, Oct 30 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu government Saturday ordered supply every month of 200 litres of kerosene at Rs.25 a litre per motorized country boat to fishermen in Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Thirunelveli districts.
The decision is expected to benefit around 16,000 fishermen using such boats.
According to the state government, kerosene costs around Rs.43.94/litre after taking into account the excise duty, sales tax and freight cost.
The expenditure for the state under this scheme is put at Rs.77 crore per annum.
