New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) The Congress is not likely to agree to a demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum scam, party sources say.
‘There may not be any change in the stand on JPC,’ a party source said. ‘There is a judicial probe going on, JPC is irrelevant – that has been the party stand and we will stick to it.’
The winter session of parliament has been marred by a logjam between the treasury and opposition benches over the demand for a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum scam.
The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Left parties, AIADMK and even the Samajwadi Party, which gives outside support to the government, are demanding a JPC.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report holds A. Raja, who quit as telecom minister, responsible for inflicting a loss of nearly Rs.1.7 lakh crore on the government by selling 2G spectrum at lower than market prices.
