Hyderabad, Nov 24 (IANS) N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker, will be the new chief minister following K. Rosaiah’s resignation, senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee said here Wednesday.

‘Sonia Gandhi has named Kiran Kumar Reddy as the new leader,’ Mukherjee told reporters late Wednesday.

The governor will administer the oath of office to Kiran Kumar Reddy Thursday, the union finance minister added.

Legislators of the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh had earlier Wednesday night unanimously authorised party chief Sonia Gandhi to name the successor to Rosaiah, who resigned earlier Wednesday on health grounds.
