London, Dec 6 (IANS) Digital storage of photographs is fast turning treasured albums into relics.

Eight out of 10 people in Britain now prefer to store photos on social networking sites or just on their laptops rather than print them out and stick them in an album, says a new survey.

While nine in 10 of Britons own a camera, only 40 percent of them print out pictures – and that too less than 10 percent of the photos captured on cameras, reports the Daily Mail.

Instead, more than half or 52 percent prefer to display them on social networking sites.

The survey, by PC World, also uncovered that people are far more likely to treasure a favourite holiday picture (88 percent) over the birth of a child (51 percent) or family get-together (65 percent).

Almost twice as many people would rather save their laptop or mobile phone from a house fire compared to a family photo album.
