Islamabad, Dec 7 (IANS) The chief minister of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province escaped unhurt Tuesday when a suicide blast targeted his cavalcade in capital Quetta, killing at least one person and injuring six others, an official said.

‘The blast was carried out moments after the cavalcade of Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani passed through Saryab Road in Quetta,’ a security official said.

The apparent target was the chief minister’s convoy but he was unhurt as the suicide blast missed the target, Geo TV reported.

The injured have been shifted to hospital.

Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Magsi escaped a similar attempt a few days ago when a timer device exploded a few minutes after his cavalcade had passed.
