Lucknow, Dec 13 (IANS) A mutilated body was found in the premises of the collectorate in Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, police said Monday.
The body of a man, who was in his mid 40s, was found in a secluded corner of the complex.
‘Prima facie it appears that the man was murdered at a different place and later his body was dumped inside the collectorate premises,’ police inspector Shri Kishan told reporters in Mainpuri, around 300 km from Lucknow.
‘Preliminary investigations indicate that the man was assaulted with blunt objects. As the face and head have been crushed, we are facing difficulty in identifying the body,’ he added.
The collectorate houses the offices of senior government officials, including the district magistrate.
