New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) A Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh, Madhu Goud Yaskhi, Monday expressed disappointment that formation of a separate Telangana state has not found any mention in the party’s political resolution adopted at the Burari plenary here.
‘The Congress’ commitment to a separate state of Telangana was mentioned in the party’s (election) manifesto. It was also conveyed through last year’s Dec 9 statement of the government. We are disappointed that it has not found a mention in the political resolution,’ Yaskhi told IANS.
Asked about the Telangana issue not finding a mention in the speeches of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the plenary, the Nizamabad MP said that party leaders from Telangana were not expecting the issue would find a place in their speeches. ‘But it should have been there in the political document,’ he said.
Yaskhi said that party leaders from the state will seek a meeting with Gandhi to convey their disappointment.
He said the party leaders from Telangana met Gandhi before the plenary and apprised her of the ‘political advantages’ of creating a new state.
