New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS) Taking inspiration from its popular arts and crafts show ‘M.A.D’, children’s entertainment channel POGO has launched M.A.D. Creations Art curriculum books.

The books cater to students from kindergarten till Class 8, and the curriculum is in tandem with the art and craft guidelines of the National Council Education Research and Training (NCERT) and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

‘Five years, eight successful seasons and nine awards, ‘M.A.D.’ has consistently scored big with kids and parents in India. Out-of-the-box thinking, creative ideas and Rob – the enigmatic host of the show are what make it a winning franchise. The launch of the graded art and craft books for school kids is a great addition to our kid-friendly content,’ Monica Tata, vice president and deputy general manager – Entertainment Networks, South Asia, Turner International India, said in a press statement.

‘I am positive that kids, parents and teachers will welcome and hugely enjoy art and craft classes in school with the M.A.D graded books. We are currently targeting 13,000 schools across India with the promise of introducing children to the fascinating world of creativity,’ she added.

Priced at Rs.185, each book comprises 35 activities and will be sold as part of a box pack containing one book and free art and craft materials like glitter powder, sequins, wiggle eyes, sponge, wool and a cotton bud.

Similar to the on-air show ‘M.A.D’, the books focus on experiential learning through techniques like colour theory, origami and collages.

The books will be available at all school book distributors and shops for the new academic session in 2011.
