Ahmedabad, Jan 11 (IANS) A complaint has been filed in a court here against Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy for making derogatory comments against Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, a lawyer said Tuesday.
Complainant Prakash Gurjar, general secretary of state Youth Congress, said that he filed the complaint as Swamy’s comments amounted to provoking a class of people amongst those who believed in the Congress.
The complaint is based on an interview of Swamy published in a newspaper Dec 27 last year.
Gurjar’s advocate B.M. Gupta said: ‘A complaint against Swamy has been filed in a metropolitan court.’
The complaint has been filed under penal provisions related to defamation and promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion.
The court has posted the matter for hearing Jan 18.
