New Delhi, Jan 11 (IANS) She may be a Congress legislator but actress Jayasudha stated categorically Tuesday that her loyalties lay with Jaganmohan Reddy, former Congress MP and son of her mentor, the late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
‘I respect the Congress and madam Sonia Gandhi, but I am a follower of YSR,’ said Jayasudha definitively.
One of the 24 Congress MLAs who defied the party leadership to travel to the capital and participate in Jaganmohan’s show of strength, Jayasudha said she had been invited by the late chief minister, known as YSR, to join politics.
‘I am a film actress and I was invited by the late YSR to join politics… Naturally, I will also follow Jaganmohan Reddy,’ Jayasudha, who represents Secunderabad in the assembly, told a TV channel at Jantar Mantar here where Jagan was on a daylong fast with thousands of his supporters, including two Congress MPs.
‘I want to follow Jaganmohan Reddy… He is fighting for a good cause, for the people of Andhra Pradesh,’ she said, adding that the fact that she was in the Congress while he was not was a matter of concern.
Jagan resigned from the Congress and his Kadapa parliamentary seat after accusing the party leadership of trying to divide the family by luring his uncle Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy with a ministerial berth in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet.
