New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS) Delhi police arrested a 26-year-old married woman along with her paramour and two associates on charges of killing her husband, an official said Monday.
Navinder Rawat was shot from close range in Khanpur area of south Delhi Feb 3 when he was walking home along with his mother and uncle, a police official said.
He was rushed to Batra Hospital where he was declared brought dead, said police.
Rawat’s wife Aarti, who worked in a call centre in Noida, Rishi Kumar (30) and his associates Sumit Kumar (20) and Parveen (21) were arrested Sunday, he added.
According to police, Aarti and Navinder’s marriage was on the rocks as she was more outgoing and her husband was not fond of her lifestyle.
‘Aarti had met Rishi Kumar in 2008 and they soon became intimate,’ said the official. He added that Aarti did not bother to come down when her husband’s body was brought home.
During investigation it was found that Rishi Kumar was in the vicinity at the time of the shooting and that he was in contact with Aarti.
‘He broke down during interrogation and confessed to the crime. He and his associates had tracked down Rawat outside his home through information provided by Aarti. Parveen shot Rawat and the three escaped in a Maruti 800 car,’ added the police.
A country-made pistol, live cartridge, three mobile phones and the car have been recovered.
