New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) The Supreme Court Thursday sought the central government’s response on its suggestion to set up a special court to exclusively carry out the trial in the 2G spectrum scam case.

‘Our endeavour is that the case is taken to its logical conclusion and is not frustrated by some technical endeavours,’ said the apex court bench of Justice G.S Singhvi and Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly.

The court also directed that no court in the country except for the Supreme Court will interfere in the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2G scam.

The court asked the CBI to carry out an investigation to find who were the beneficiaries of the larger conspiracy in the 2G scam.

The apex court considered the status report filed by the investigating agency in a sealed cover.

The CBI told the court that it will file a chargesheet for the 2G scam March 31 and for the question of larger investigation spanning from 2001-2006, the chargesheet will be filed on May 31, 2011.

The matter will come up for hearing March 1 when the Attorney General G. Vahanvati will inform the court about government’s response to the suggestion to set up a special court to try 2G scam case.
