Raipur, Feb 13 (IANS) Chhattisgarh’s temple town of Ratanpur woke up to a bloody Sunday with the discovery of the corpses of three children – all below ten years of age. The children were killed by a man in revenge for his wife eloping with their uncle, police said.

‘It’s a brutal and shocking killing. The man, Manoj Suryavanshi, lured Ajay, 9, Sakchhi, 7, and Vijay, 5, on Friday when they were on way back to their house from school and killed them in a field on the outskirts of Ratanpur. Their bodies were recovered Sunday when locals spotted it and informed us,’ Ajay Yadav, police chief of Bilaspur district, told IANS over phone.

Manoj confessed to the police that he decided to kill the three children as his wife’s decision of running away with their uncle had greatly embarassed him in the village and also caused misery to his two daughters, both below five years of age.

Ratanpur, situated in Bilaspur district, is located some 130 km from state capital Raipur.
