New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) A Nigerian man and a Nepali woman were arrested and two kg heroin worth Rs.2 crore in international market recovered from them in west Delhi, Delhi police said Saturday.

Nigerian Ojiakor Johanson, 32, and Nepali Annu, 29, were arrested Friday at Deepali Chowk on Outer Ring Road in west Delhi. Both were living in Khayala near Tilak Nagar.

‘A case under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act has been registered. The recovered heroin is worth Rs.2 crore in the international market,’ said an official of the narcotics cell of Delhi Police.

According to police, Johanson disclosed that he had come to India about a year back on a business visa. After staying in Tamil Nadu for some time, he shifted to Delhi.

‘The Nigerian does not have any valid travel documents and was staying illegally in India. In Delhi, he came in contact with Annu through a fellow Nigerian,’ the official said.

‘Annu said that at the instance of Johanson she procured the heroin from a Nigerian national residing at Nepal. She concealed the heroin in a suitcase and brought it to Delhi. She had earlier acted as a carrier for other Nigerian nationals,’ the official said.

According to police, the seized heroin was produced in Afghanistan.
