Dhaka, Feb 20 (IANS) India’s dashing opener Virender Sehwag says the victories in back-to-back warm up games and the tournament opener have given the momentum to India’s World Cup campaign.

‘Momentum is very important for every series. We have got the momentum after winning the two practice games and the opening match here. We have got the winning habit and consistency. It is important to have the momentum to achieve success,’ said Sehwag, after India’s 87-run victory over Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here.

Asked whether it was a revenge match for India, as they had gone down to Bangladesh in the previous edition of the tournament four years back, Sehwag replied: ‘I think so. It was a revenge match for us.’

Sehwag said it was a good toss to lose as the visitors would also have opted to field had the coin favoured them.

‘We were also looking to field first because of the dew factor. Even if you score 300 or 320, it’s easy to chase when dew comes, because spinners can’t do anything. Even fast bowlers would have problems. We were thinking of fielding first if would have won the toss. Good that we lost it,’ said Sehwag.

However, he described Bangladesh as a ‘good ODI side’.

‘They can disappoint any big side, if they get to know their strengths and weaknesses. If they play well in Tests they can disappoint any team,’ he said.
