New Delhi, March 3 (IANS) A Delhi court Thursday sent former NALCO chairman-cum-managing director A.K. Srivastava and his accomplice B.L Bajaj, arrested in a bribery case, to five days of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody.

Special Judge O.P. Saini sent the two to CBI custody till March 8.

The two accused were arrested Feb 25, after CBI recovered about 10 kg of gold bricks and jewellery valued at around Rs.2.13 crore from Srivastava and Rs.30 lakh in cash from Bajaj.

‘In view of the submissions made at the bar, nature of the case as well as work which is required to be done by the investigating agency, I am satisfied that plea for extension of custody remand is justified,’ said the court.

Meanwhile, Anita Bajaj, wife of B.L Bajaj and co-accused in the case along with NALCO chief’s wife Chandani Srivastava, moved bail application before the court.

Anita and Chandani were also arrested by CBI Feb 25 and are now in Tihar Jail under judicial custody till March 15.

The CBI has also arrested Ratan Pal Singh Bhatia, who is also in police custody till March 5.

The court fixed March 7, to hear on the bail plea of Anita.
