London, March 22 (IANS) Actress Lindsay Lohan is considering pleading no-contest in her alleged jewellery theft case, says her mother.

Lohan’s mother Dina also says that her 24-year-old daughter is desperate to put the legal process behind her, reports contactmusic.com.

‘Obviously she’s not pleading guilty. My children don’t steal things. But the system is so strange out in Los Angeles. We’re considering a couple of options and just want to get this over with in the shortest amount of time,’ Dina told New York Daily newspaper.

Lindsay is due to appear in the court Friday, where her lawyers will reveal if she wants to accept a plea deal over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from Kamofie & Co. jewellery store in Venice, California.

‘Lindsay is up for a couple of film roles and we want this behind us the quickest way possible. We’re speaking with the attorneys and we’ll make that decision after we talk,’ said Dina.

The jewellery store reported the necklace stolen on Jan 22, just three weeks after Lohan was released from a three-month court-ordered rehab at the Betty Ford Center.
