London, March 27 (IANS) A total of 19 plays by crime-novel specialist Agatha Christie will be staged in China.
Two play institutions in Shanghai have been authorised to stage the Chinese stage version of the novels written by the British author that include ‘And Then There Were None’, ‘Witness for the Prosecution’, ‘Spider’s Web’ and ‘Towards Zero’, Xinhua reported.
The Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre and the Shanghai Mousetrap Drama Studio signed a five-year-term agreement with the crime writer’s agent, after gaining approval from the author’s grandson, Mathew Pritchard.
Pritchard visited Shanghai in 2010, during the 120th anniversary of Christie’s birth.
He liked the Chinese version of ‘And Then There Were None’ and agreed to cooperate with the Shanghai institutions, said Tong Xin, a producer.
Seven to eight percent of the proceeds from every performance would be paid as copyright royalties, Tong said.
