Mohali, March 31 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh clapped away as India defeated Pakistan in the World Cup cricket here Wednesday even as his guest and Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani looked glum.
The two prime ministers were seated next to each other in the VVIP stand of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium where India crushed Pakistan by 29 runs to take on Sri Lanka in the final at Mumbai.
In contrast, Congress president Sonia Gandhi raised both her arms in sheer joy the moment the last Pakistani wicket fell in the final over of the high-voltage game.
Her son and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi also stood up — like his mother — as the match ended.
