Hyderabad, April 29 (IANS) Two teenagers were arrested Friday in Andhra Pradesh for killing their friend by throwing her into a river.
The two, a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old, were nabbed for the murder of Class 6 student Bhavani, who had gone missing on April 21 from her residence in Jeedimetla near here.
One of the two teen-agers told police he murdered her because she had rejected his advances, an official said.
The two friends had allegedly picked her up with the promise of taking her to other friends to celebrate her birthday, police said.
As the 13-year-old girl failed to return home, her father, an autorickshaw driver, complained to police.
It was on April 26 that an unidentified body was recovered from the Krishna river in Tadepalli area of Guntur district. Bhavani’s parents reached Tadepalli Friday and identified the body as that of their daughter.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested her two friends, who confessed to pushing her into the river.
