Jammu, June 22 (Inditop.com) The Indian Army Monday averted a tragedy by detecting a bomb planted by suspected guerrillas on a route to Amarnath pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

A patrol party of the army discovered a bag containing explosives near Digdol, 165 km north of Jammu, two hours before a pilgrim cavalcade was to pass that point.

The bomb was “planted apparently to cause damage to the pilgrims’ traffic on the highway”, a police officer said. It was defused later.

Police said security agencies have received inputs about the militant plans to disrupt the pilgrimage to the Himalayan cave shrine in the Kashmir Valley.
