Chennai, May 31 (IANS) Indian teams came up with a mixed performance in the 16th Bridge Federation of India and Middle East (BFAME) bridge championship here Tuesday.
The women’s team defeated Jordan 92-19 while the men trailed Pakistan 38-58 in the first of the two-round finals.
The Indian men’s team would have been further behind but for the carryover of 12 IMPs while the women’s squad also enjoyed the same advantage against Jordan.
Though Pakistan lost twice and drew once with India in the league stage, they appeared to be peaking at the right time. After a little sluggish start, they displayed fine skill and cashed in on India’s faults to take a lead of 20 points at the end of the first match.
The second and concluding matches will be held Wednesday.
