New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday said it wanted parliament to function normally in the monsoon session, but it was not possible without concrete action against corruption.

BJP leader S.S. Ahluwalia told reporters after an all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar that the party wanted to raise critical issues during the session.

‘We want discussions and we want the house to run. But just discussing corruption and forgetting it is not what we want,’ Ahluwalia said.

Meira Kumar called the meeting to ensure smooth functioning of the house.

‘If the ministers don’t resign and the government does not take up those issues, the government will be responsible for the house not functioning,’ the BJP leader said.

Price rise, corruption, black money, Telangana, Air India, killing and arrest of Indian fishermen are some of the major issues zeroed for this session by the BJP.

The party is also prepared to ask for discussions on issues like Maoist violence, irregularities in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector, farmers’ agitation against land acquisitions, and internal security with special reference to Mumbai terror attacks.

To ensure a peaceful session, Leader of House in Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee also met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and senior BJP leader L.K. Advani.
